The Hon Grant Robertson, the Member of Parliament for Wellington Central, has kindly agreed to host a dinner for two people at Parliament.
All proceeds of the auction will go to the charity Koru Care NZ, which for over 35-years, has helped bring dreams alive for kids who have drawn the short straw. In some cases, they have cancer, kidney disease or heart problems, in other cases they have lost the use of their limbs or have serious congenital abnormalities.
The one thing they all share is the capacity to smile, laugh and create good memories; they just need someone to wave the magic wand and by winning this auction, you will.
The dinner: The dinner is a three-course dinner for two persons with the Hon Grant Robertson, Member of Parliament for Wellington Central at Bellamys by Logan Brown within Parliament, Wellington.
The auction winner will need to arrange a mutually agreeable date and time with Grant's office during a Parliamentary sitting week (Tuesday or Wednesday evening between 6pm and 7.30pm).
It will be a very special night to remember!
About Koru Care NZ: Koru Care NZ makes dreams come true for sick and disabled kids. It is well known for delivering dreams in the form of memorable overseas trips including to California and the Gold Coast. Both are dream destinations and each group consists of 26 children and 15 volunteer caregivers. Your support will help meet the many costs.
The USA trip is 2 weeks in duration and the Gold Coast is for 8 days. The children that participate on the Koru Care Gold Coast Adventure are generally chosen as they are too ill to handle the long-distance travel to California or the long days that this trip has. Closer to home, Koru Care NZ puts on events for the children with its annual pantomime and Christmas Harbour Cruise and picnic.
Koru Care NZ also provides grants for the cost of flights for children that require medical treatment overseas that is not available in New Zealand.

Trade Me have very kindly waived the listing and success fees on this auction so all of the winning proceeds will be directed to Koru Care - thank you Trade Me! Seller comment Tuesday, 6 August 2019 In case it isn't clear - this auction is for two people to dine with Grant, NOT for two people including Grant - Thanks Yachtie62 for kicking this auction off :) Seller comment Tuesday, 6 August 2019 And another clarification (I'm getting anxious with the number of out-of-towners bidding....) This meal is in Wellington and the auction is only for the dinner. You will need to arrange transport/accommodation at own cost if you aren't lucky enough to know a local. Who knows, if you bid enough, we may swing you a night in our spare room Seller comment Tuesday, 6 August 2019 Can we bring our pinot? judgerockpinot(34• 06:47 pm, Tue, 6 Aug ) If you win, you can stay with us but ONLY if you bring you pinot :) Re getting it into the hallowed halls, there is quite a significant security regime but who an I to stand in your way.... crohampark(421• Tuesday, 6 August 2019 ) A worthy cause, but cant think of anyone i would be lless inclined to have dinner with! Are there any other options as to company? John mojos(74• 09:39 am, Wed, 7 Aug ) I can assure you that Grant is charming company, regardless of your political persuasion. And the good this auction brings is undeniable crohampark(421• Wednesday, 7 August 2019 ) Is there any other option to choose like Helen Clark or John Key? fivecm09(127• 11:16 am, Wed, 7 Aug ) This dinner is for the auction winner and a plus one. You are of course very welcome to invite either of those (or any other person) to join you and Grant :) crohampark(421• Wednesday, 7 August 2019 ) Will proceeds from that auction go to Koru Care California trip in November 2019 or Koru Care Gold Coast trip in 2020? nascarsonali(34• 02:01 pm, Wed, 7 Aug ) I have asked Koru Care and their response it that normally funds go to the general Koru Care account that supports all of their efforts, but if the auction winner has a special preference that the money is specifically earmarked, then they will oblige. Many thanks! crohampark(421• Wednesday, 7 August 2019 ) Just confirming if I can invite my other family members to come along? I have a big group of family and keen to meet the politician face to face as they have never seen one in real life fivecm09(127• 02:22 pm, Wed, 7 Aug ) This auction will cover the cost for the dinner for 2 guests. That said, Bellamys is a reasonably sized establishment, and if you are able to secure a big enough table on the night and prepared to cover the additional cost, I am sure that could be arranged crohampark(421• Wednesday, 7 August 2019 ) Who pays for grant Or is it another taxpayers funded free meal for him thebige(369• 04:10 pm, Wed, 7 Aug ) Thank you for your question. No this meal is not tax payer funded. When our son first approached Grant, he was asked if he would participate by hosting the meal at Bellamys. We told Grant we would pay for the meal (for all people present). There was some spirited conversation as Grant offered to personally cover the cost and to be honest, I am not sure where this landed in the end but please be assured it is not the tax payer. crohampark(421• Wednesday, 7 August 2019 ) Could you please confirm if I am able to discuss the success of Kiwibuild with Grant? Your removal of my previous question on this matter is a little disconcerting. bob1120(67• 06:51 pm, Wed, 7 Aug ) Hi, I didn't remove your question but it did mysteriously disappear before I could answer it last night. I put it down to the excessive levels of electromagnetic waves in the atmosphere at present. I would say that should you win, any courteous conversation over dinner would be welcomed. crohampark(421• Wednesday, 7 August 2019 ) Will there be plenty of pepper to go with the saltiness of any potential national supporter winners (losers)? shadoe66(79• 08:11 pm, Wed, 7 Aug ) My personal experience of eating at Bellamys is that the food was exquisite and not in need of additional seasoning crohampark(421• Wednesday, 7 August 2019 ) Best wishes for a great cause, and thumbs up to Mr Robertson for supporting the cause. It's a pity some feel the need for political point scoring micistm(476• 10:59 am, Sat, 10 Aug ) It is a shame, but I guess to be expected. What is more important is the great outcomes for the kids that Koru Care deliver. Thank you for your lovely words :) crohampark(421• Saturday, 10 August 2019 ) is the dinner serve can be halal for muslims? alphaz(260• 11:31 am, Sat, 10 Aug ) Hi there, apologies for the late response, I had to wait for Bellamys to open for lunch today to check the answer. Yes, they can accommodate your requirements. Thank you for asking, sorry for not thinking of it earlier crohampark(421• Saturday, 10 August 2019 ) Is joewilkes a real bidder? could be a green or national party member to sabotage your auction tansi(1415• 06:00 pm, Sat, 10 Aug ) I think JoeWilkes is real, they have been in it for a while. If I consider the Green and National party members I know, they also care about the cause this auction represents! crohampark(421• Saturday, 10 August 2019 ) Some of the political questions are just sad. This man has agreed to give up his time to help a fantastic not for profit charity. Thank you for this auction, as a mother of a Koru Care child in 2019 I want to thank you, and good luck to who ever wins I am sure you will have a fantastic dinner xxx sugarfree3(13• 11:04 am, Sun, 11 Aug ) Thanks for your lovely supportive words. I know that Koru Care trips are such a wonderful incentive for sick children and spirit lifting. Grant is a great local MP and agreed to do this when requested by a constituent - nothing more than a good hearted effort for the children of this country crohampark(421• Sunday, 11 August 2019 ) I wish I could afford to make a bid for such a great opportunity and worthy cause. Well done to everyone involved and good luck :) hinerau29(140• 08:47 am, Mon, 12 Aug ) Thanks for your lovely words, the value of this auction is becoming breath-taking!
